An unlikely group
Tomorrow we are starting the unit on ecology, and this is a tough unit. Lots of vocab to cover, but so MANY different things that we can choose to talk about. I tend to focus on the connections between organisms outside of the human area, but it's also so important to talk about how humans fit (or try not to fit) into the picture. I hope I can do a good job of that, too, even though we will only be scratching the surface of the topic.
To the left is a picture of a spider standing on a turtle standing on a frog. This unlikely combo was found in the swimming pool filter of a local Charlottesville couple, and the story has spread world-wide. I think the story that was made up to explain it was delightful (read the story here!), but I really wonder how organisms come together in ways that we don't expect. There are so many mysterious interactions out there in the world!
